Linen in the Liberties

Linen in the Liberties invite you to spend a morning with us where we will share our passion for all things flax. This fibre, which has been so important in Ireland’s textile history, is now enjoying a grass roots revival as people are searching for pathways to a more sustainable future.

Irish Linen has a  tangled history but a bright future. Join local project Linen in the Liberties for a morning exploring all things flax and linen. A slide show about the history of Linen in Ireland and the work of our project will be followed by a demonstration of processing local flax.

You will have the opportunity to feel the flax and even try your hand at spinning. Many people have memories of the family linen. If you have a piece of Irish linen at home please bring it along and tell us your story. We will be distributing flax seed on the day if you want to try to grow a small patch of your own.
